What is the Teacher Training Institute?
We welcome all candidates to apply to the ALLEX scholarship programs whether you have teaching experience or not. Once matched with one of our partner schools, candidates will join our Teacher Training Institute summer program. The training program allows candidates to learn pedagogical theories, practice teaching to actual American students, and improve their classroom management skills. Candidates will have the opportunity to learn from and work with a world-renowned professorial team, as well as to connect with other ALLEX students from East Asian countries.
Pedagogical Theory
You will be taught by professors and experts in the field of East Asian language pedagogy. The training program will equip you with the pedagogical theory knowledge and skills to teach your native language at an American university.
Practical Experience
The Teacher Training Institute offers first-hand experience interacting with American students and teaching at an American university. The experience you gain through this program will help you to start your journey in the U.S.
Friendship
Studying abroad can be lonely. You are choosing to depart from friends and family, but you will also meet other students who have the same interests and passions as you. You will be surprised how quickly you can build relationships with other students!
Note: The Summer Teacher Training Program was held at Washington University in St. Louis until 2020. Due to the pandemic, the program will be in hybrid format for the 2024/25 program year (online training for four weeks and two weeks in-person training at Cornell University). The location for the 2025/26 program will be announced in January 2025.
