【Updated June 2022】Can You Study Abroad during COVID-19?

It has been three years since the pandemic began, and our society is starting to live with the pandemic. This is also true with classes and campus life at U.S. universities.

International students have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 travel restrictions and related policies around the world. Students keep wondering “Can I still study abroad during Covid-19” and “Should I wait or give up on my dream of going to the U.S.”?

Searching for the right information from reliable sources is crucial when students need to make a life-changing decision.

Things you need to know to enter the U.S. as an F-1/J-1 Visa student

** You are considered fully vaccinated:
- 2 weeks (14 days) after your dose of an accepted single-dose vaccine
- 2 weeks (14 days) after your second dose of an accepted 2-dose series
- 2 weeks (14 days) after you received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine (not placebo) in a clinical trial
- 2 weeks (14 days) after you received 2 doses of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines administered at least 17 days apart.
If you don’t meet these requirements, you are NOT considered fully vaccinated. A booster dose is not needed to meet this requirement.

Recently, the U.S. government has updated international travel requirements and recommendations for non-U.S. citizens and immigrants. To follow the latest travel updates, please check the following websites for detailed requirements and recommendations:

Can you still have the typical campus life at a U.S. university that you always wanted?

Some people may wonder how the university campus life has been during COVID-19, and if the regular university life is coming back. As of June 2022, many American universities are open as usual, much like the times before the pandemic.

Some universities use a hybrid system that combines both online and in person study. But for the most part, universities have reopened their campuses one after another at a rapid pace.

With COVID-19 related restrictions eased in the U.S. (including masking, testing etc.), it is clear that campus life is gradually reviving and is returning to a pre-pandemic “normalcy”. Now is the perfect time to travel to the U.S to study abroad and fulfill your dream!
