ALLEX Foundation: Alliance for Language Learning and Educational Exchange

A Message of Appreciation:

ALLEX and its Professorial Team wish to express their deepest gratitude to Mr. Akio Terumasa and Ms. Kuriyama Hiroko of the Committee for International Exchange with North American Universities and Colleges (北米大学教育交流委員会), and Mr. William Witala and Ms. Penny Corbett of Exchange:Japan, for their many years of dedication to the establishment of high quality Japanese language programs in the United States and Canada. The programs they managed for nearly two decades have profoundly influenced the lives of the more than 450 Japanese participants and reshaped foreign language departments at many North American institutions. Effects of this grassroots international exchange have been seen in each of the communities that have hosted Japanese teachers and will continued to be seen in U.S.– Japan bilateral relations for many years to come. We are especially grateful to Mr. Akio—a man of great vision—for allowing ALLEX to continue the tradition of these important educational programs.
